Dear volunteers,
Your contribution over the last 3 years to the AQUA@home project was critical for us to perform immense computations necessary for the advancement of our science and technology. We have published several scientific papers reporting the results of those computations, including our recent publication in Nature. We made sure to acknowledge your generous contributions in those papers, as your help was vital. At this time, however, we no longer have large computations requiring the computing power of AQUA@home. We therefore have come to the decision to shut down AQUA for the forseeable future. Thank-you again for the selfless devotion of your time, patience,and computing resources to our effort to progress the field of quantum computing.

Sur les sept publications revendiquées par ce projet, il n'en existe en fait qu'une seule de réelle. Et encore, il reste à savoir si celle-ci, publiée dans Nature, a apporté des connaissances nouvelles significatives à la communauté scientifique. Toutes les autres qui sont citées ne sont que des "preprints" ou prépublications, c'est-à-dire des projets de publication, des brouillons si vous préférez. Normalement ils sont attentivement lus par le comité de lecture de la revue et éventuellement corrigés par leurs auteurs, avant que leur publication devienne effective. A ce stade, il arrive que leur publication soit refusée, malgré les multiples corrections parfois proposées par les auteurs, c'est sans doute ce qui arrivera à la plupart ou à la totalité de ces six articles, car il en a toujours été ainsi avec Aqua/D-Wave.
